Michael was an Archangel that appeared in various religious teachings. His name means ‘who is like God?’ in Hebrew, which is interpreted as a rhetorical question. Michael’s depiction in the book of Daniel resulted in Michael being interpreted as a protector of Israel, the Christian Church, and as advocate of the Jewish people, despite rabbinical prohibition of appealing to Angels as intermediaries between God and his loyal people. During the war in heaven, Michael led the armies of God against Satan. Michael and his Angels triumphed against Satan; who was cast down onto Earth.
